The grave site of DAR Patriot Lt. Moses DePuy (1754-1828) 3rd Regiment Ulster County Militia had long been forgotten in the woods and fields of the Town of Rochester in Ulster County. The County Legislature provided the funds and the Department of Public Works provided the manpower and equipment to remove the trees and brush and then landscaped around the gravesite. Wiltwyck Chapter Regent Margaret Winkler-Hoffmann and chapter members participated in the rededication ceremony along with members of the Ulster County Government and the Sons of the American Revolution.
At the Kingston Ulster County Court House the Wiltwyck Chapter, NSDAR participates in the program for the naturalization of new American citizens. We congratulated the new citizens individually and presented them with a miniature American Flag and The Flag Code leaflet which explains the importance of the properly displaying the flag. Light refreshments are also served to the new citizens and other participants in this important event in their lives. This is a cooperative effort started many years ago between the Ulster County Clerk's Office and the Wiltwyck Chapter.
The Wiltwyck Chapter participated in the national Wreaths Across America Project. Wreaths were placed on the graves of many patriotic veterans, including Patriot Gov. George Clinton who served our country. A wreath was also place on the grave site of our chapter founder, and first Regent Mary Isabella Forsyth at Wiltwyck Cemetery. The Civil Air Patrol was instrumental in helping us to accomplish this patriotic and moving activity.
